I just ran a verification check on Halo: MCC to see if it would hit the "update files corrupt" error again and I'm relieved to say that it passed. My guess is that the bios reset straightened something out. Suddenly, I was able to download the chipset updates in one go, unpack things, etc., and, lo and behold, Steam successfully downloads both Skyrim SE and the SCR tools and runs the game without issue.

I was on the verge of planning a Windows 10 reinstall tomorrow when I decided to reset the bios to its default settings. Unable to download large files, due to constant network interruptions that, in hindsight, may have been coming from the bios (nfi at this point).

I reset the CMOS, having read in a couple places that doing so would more or less make the new RAM more available in the memory (or something.), and things started getting worse with the PC in general. Is it a memory allocation problem or something? Will completely reinstalling Steam fix this? Am I missing or just forgetting to do something to cement the new memory in the system? Someone please help and shed some light on this problem. Fallout 4 and Halo: MCC are also hitting the same "update files corrupt" error. Throughout this process another app, Steamworks Common Redistributables, has shared the same experiences, so it's not just Skyrim SE.

I can get the game to download, install and work fine with my PC in it previous configuration, but when I put the new RAM in, Steam throws a fit. Emboldened, I set Steam to verifying Skyrim SE's files again- and was right back at square one with 22 files failing validation and needing to the re-downloaded, essentially the entire game, again.Īnd that's where I am now. Steam successfully installed an old 16MB game and verified its files. This time, with the game already installed, I was able to start it with the new RAM installed, but I knew that that wouldn't be good enough if I still couldn't verify and install things. Thinking that it may be working now, I shut down, powered off, and reinstalled the new RAM again. After booting up and starting Steam again, Skyrim SE downloaded and started successfully. Then I tried shutting the PC down completely, turning off the power supply, and removing the new RAM. Throughout these attempts, I have tried clearing Steam's download cache and changing the download location, to no avail. I uninstalled again, moved all of the modding files elsewhere, deleted the Skyrim SE directory along with everything in it, and tried again, only to hit the same error. I then uninstalled the game and downloaded again- same error. I attempted to verify (failed) and download the game files again but hit the same error. However, instead of downloading successfully, Steam completed the download and then threw an "update files corrupt" error. I set Steam to verify the game files and was met with 21 files failing the check and needing to be re-downloaded. I've been playing modded Skyrim SE recently without issue, but immediately after installing the new RAM, all attempts to start the game resulted in "Application load error 3:0000065432". The rest of the PC seemed fine with it and confirmed the additional memory's existence, and the sticks were installed in the correct slots. However, today I installed another brand-new 16GB (2 x 8GB), exactly the same brand, model, timings, etc. Up til today I've been using 16GB (2 x 8GB) of RAM without any problems. Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 16GB 3200MHz CL16 DDR4 (previously 16GB, now 32GB)
